Admission Requirements

PATCHES serves children with chronic medical conditions and complex medical needs who require skilled nursing care during the day. Our program is specifically designed for medically complex and technologically dependent children.

In order to qualify for admission to PATCHES, a child must:

  • Be medically complex or medically fragile and/or technologically dependent.
  • Require skilled nursing care.
  • Have approval from his/her physician.
  • Be medically stable (not in need of immediate hospital care).
  • Be appropriate for outpatient care.
  • Present no significant risk of infection to other children or personnel.
  • Not have neurodevelopmental disorders like Autism Spectrum Disorder unless they also have a medical diagnosis, which makes them eligible for admission.

PATCHES serves children with medical diagnoses and is not designed to accommodate children whose primary needs are behavioral or developmental in nature.
